Scrum is like your in-laws

Scrum is a bit like your in-laws. They’re there to point out your flaws.

If you have no problem with Scrum, check that you’re actually applying it correctly.

Scrum is a framework that isn’t there to make you feel good. It’s there to surface the problems you’ll encounter in your organization, your team, and your work. It brings to light what needs to be improved.

How do we do that? Through inspection and adaptation. That’s at the very heart of Scrum. We hold events that inspect the work produced, that inspect the way we work, to identify what isn’t working, and try to improve it every day.

The issue with Scrum isn’t when there’s friction, it’s mainly when there’s no friction left at all, and everything seems to be going smoothly.

To sum up, Scrum is a framework that creates friction, but it’s there for a reason: to enable inspection and adaptation, and to improve your team and your organization.
