If you do a demo during your Sprint Review, you haven’t understood how it works. The Sprint Review is not a demo, it’s inspection.
The goal of the Sprint Review is to improve. Here’s what we did, but here’s what we learned. Here are the results it delivered.
Here’s whether we reached the Sprint Goal and what impact it had. That has far more value than “look, I added a button.”
What I do with my teams in the Sprint Review is demonstrate the feature we built to the users, and we can even ask them to test it.
And that’s where you get impact. Watching how your users actually use your product will give you more impact and more insight than simply making a video of it.
In summary, the Sprint Review is not just a demo, it’s a real inspection event where we look at the Increment, see what we’ve learned, decide what we want to do with that knowledge, and plan the future.
And you, who do you invite to your Sprint Reviews? Do you give a presentation, or do you ask your users to test?
