If you want to build a good product, you need a goal and a way to measure it. EBM is here for that.
Evidence-Based Management, or EBM, is a framework created by Scrum.org to help teams make better decisions using feedback rather than gut feeling.
The first point of EBM is the goal. You’ll define a vision, strategic objectives, and immediate objectives.
For example, if you want to go hiking, you’ll define your destination, the paths to get there, and checkpoints to verify you’re on the right track.
After that, you need to measure your progress to know if you’re moving in the right direction with real information.
For that, EBM offers you 4 value areas that let you check that you’re working on the right things at the right time.
Within each of these value areas, you can choose 1 to 2 key indicators to inspect your progress.
EBM doesn’t impose any of them, it gives you a list, but it’s up to you to define what’s relevant for you and your team.
In summary, EBM helps you move forward: it helps you define a vision and objectives, and also inspect your progress to know if you’re heading in the right direction.
And you, do you know if your team is really moving toward its goal and product vision?
